marissa "meets" her man

i remember that time when my sister "met" zac hanson.

the story goes a little something like this.

kristin, natalie and i... being the older and "wiser" of the crazy hanford crew somehow convinced our parents that driving to san francisco to see yet another hanson show was a necessity and really the only way that we could continue our existence as we knew it. unfortunately, marissa was not allowed to go on this trip... she was too young... even though natalie was only a year older than her. i'm not sure that she'll ever let that one die.

so, the three of us piled into kristin's car and even though none of us had any more than one year experience driving (and way less than that outside the confines of the kings county borderline) we made the trek up to san francisco to attend the taping of hanson's show at the historic fillmore theater.

we drove straight to the venue- it was the night before the show- and low and behold who was sound checking? yes, the three dreamies from tulsa, oklahoma. our brilliant high school minds made the spur of the moment decision that we would WAIT for hanson to come out. their vans were parked right at the curb and as far as we could tell, there was no other way out.

long story short... after conversing with the "security guards", seeing drugs for the first time, and making calls home to ensure our parents that we were 100% SAFE on the streets of san francisco at 2am, the boys came out.

i'll never forget the moment that we shoved our large pre-historic nokia cell phone in zac's face so that he could talk to what we thought at the time would be his future wife. miss marissa antionette hanson.

i think marissa might have cried on the other end of the phone. "meeting" zac hanson, although done over the phone, was a pivotal moment in her life. and yes, we have the whole thing on audio tape. marissa pressed record as soon as the phone was handed to her back home in hanford.

the moment was priceless.

another priceless marissa/hanson moment... henry fonda theater... a few short years later... marissa immediately bursts into tears after isaac makes a rude comment to her. i honestly don't even remember the context of what happened but we have NEVER looked at isaac hanson the same way since. how dare he crush our dreams?

long live hanson.
